JULIE CASTELLANO

Julie Castellano is the Director of Edwynn Houk Gallery in New York (since 2004) and also oversaw the gallery’s second location in Zurich (2010-2017). The gallery’s focus is on modern and contemporary photography, working with such 20th Century artists as:  Diane Arbus, Ilse Bing, Bill Brandt, Brassai, Andre Kertesz, Man Ray, Herb Ritts, August Sander, and contemporary artists such as Valerie Belin,  Sebastiaan Bremer, Elinor Carucci, Lynn Davis, Elliott Erwitt, Lalla Essaydi, Gail Albert Halaban, David Maisel, Sally Mann, Abelardo Morell, Matthew Pillsbury, and Paolo Ventura.

 

Previously, Ms. Castellano was the Director of Zabriskie Gallery in New York. The gallery closed in 2011 after over 50 years in business and was probably best known for curating the very best exhibitions of modern and contemporary work in all media, with an emphasis on American Modernism, Surrealism and Dada, and French and American photography. Ms. Castellano received an MA in Art History & Criticism from the University of Stony Brook and her BA from The State University of New York, College at Oswego. She is currently on the Board of Directors of AIPAD and is the mother of 2 very dear children, Mattie (13 years) & KK (11 years).
