Jenkins Johnson will present an international group of photographers including Ming Smith, Aida Muluneh, Chase Hall, Wesaam Al-Badry, Hendrik Kerstens and Julia Fullerton-Batten. Ming Smith, the first black female photographer acquired by MoMA, will present rarely seen hand-colored photographs and NY street scenes. Ethiopian photographer, Aida Muluneh, whose work was recently acquired by MoMA, will premier large scale photographs. Wesaam Al-Badry will show works from his Mississippi Delta series, which captures the resilience and solidarity of that community. Emerging artist Chase Hall’s NY street portraits present an intimate window to those whom society turns a blind eye. Dutch photographer Hendrik Kerstens’ photographs of his daughter reference the works of Vermeer as well as the play between present and past. Award-winning Julia Fullerton-Batten’s newest series explores the stories occurring along The Thames River.
