Paul Cupido

For our joint booth at Paris Photo New York Danziger Gallery and Bildhalle will present a solo presentation of works by Paul Cupido. Playing with scale and incorporating both unseen new work and older works the booth will be the first opportunity for American audiences to see the work of a new photographic voice. Seeking to picture the transient and ephemeral moments of life Cupido's subjects - light and shadow on a leaf, silhouetted figures, the reflection of a cloud on water - capture a dream state emphasized by his pictorial printing process. It is something that can better be seen in the pictures rather than words, but without forcing the matter Cupido brings what could be described as a zen sensibility to moments that meditate on the fragility of life and the interconnectedness of humans and non-humans.
